Residential Product Specifications The State of Michigan has currently approved two of Marine Innovations models. The CBH860 and UBH860. The CBH860 provides a less expensive alternative by requiring less material to do the same job. Less material to assemble means less labor to install the elevator. The travel is limited by the size of the drum that the cable reels on to. Once the travel exceeds 130 feet the system becomes less efficient because the motor, gear and drum must be enlarged. The UBH860 traction drive elevator operates much like a commercial building elevator over 10 stories. It is highly efficient and offers virtually unlimited travel. Yes, it does cost more up front for the drive components, but once that investment has been made it is just a matter of adding more rail. By using a continuous loop of cable we eliminate the need for a counterweight. In Michigan this is a critical issue for anyone that enjoys our beautiful Winters. Counterweights in an icy outdoor environment can jam-up in the guide rails and leave the passengers stranded halfway up the hill. Both of our models are currently being ridden and enjoyed year-round in Michigan. Why pay the same for an elevator that can only be used 8 months out of the year.
